Lord Howe Island is a wildlife’s paradise. Imagine this: the very unique Providence Petrels come down to check on you, Black Noddies that calmly sit on their tree nests when you are less than a meter away, White tern parents come in and feed their chicks 6 fish one by one while you watch, the once-endangered Woodhens chase each other on your tracks, you see more sea life in a 100 metre’s seashore walk than any of your snorkelling or diving trips.

Plus, a lot of information on what makes Lord Howe Island such an oasis for wildlife. Ian Hutton, who has written 12 guidebooks on the island, is just the right person to show you the best of Lord Howe Island.

In this tour, we enjoy some easy to moderate walks to explore diverse habitats, thronging seabird colonies and the world’s more southerly coral reef. Local expert and naturalist Ian Hutton will share his in-depth knowledge about flora, fauna, history and conservation of this World Heritage Site. You will be centrally based at one of the family lodges. On most days we will set out together to explore the island tracks that take you to scenic lookouts, seabird colonies, rockpools. There is also plenty for time to rest, snorkel or do your own Island exploration.
