One of our most popular tours, Low Tide Reef Walks are planned on an ad hoc basis, dependent on weather and the low tide phases of the moon. If you are on the Island when a trip is announced, consider yourself lucky and grasp the chance to enjoy a close encounter with colourful marine life of the southernmost coral reef in the world without getting wet.
Situated at the crossroads of tropical and temperate ocean currents, Lord Howe Island boasts an unusual mix of marine life. We explore the rockpools on the rocky reef, discovering the Island’s abundant and diverse marine life. Experienced naturalist Ian Hutton shares the stories of their lives: each with a unique life-cycle, diet, defence and reproduction pattern.
We meet at the Ned’s Beach shed. Bring your reef footwear, hat, sunblock and camera.
