Ian Hutton has been running the Bush Regeneration Ecotours on Lord Howe Island since 1995, allowing visitors to combine conservation and environmental volunteering with sightseeing. Ian is a long-term member of the Lord Howe Island Biodiversity Management Plan group. He spearheaded early interest to eradicate feral weeds on the Island and established these Ecotours to allow visitors to join this important conservation mission.
Throughout the week you will be centrally based in a family lodge, with a convenient location and private in-room kitchen. Each morning is spent removing weeds or replanting native trees. Every afternoon Ian takes you on guided walks to explore the many walking tracks, seabird colonies, beaches and reefs that make Lord Howe so worthy of protection. Lectures about the Island’s habitats and history are included in the schedule, giving you an opportunity to learn more about the Island, its biodiversity and conservation efforts.
In the evenings we come together for a meal at one of the Islands fine restaurants to discuss our achievements and discoveries.
The perfect way to combine giving back with a holiday, Lord Howe Island Ecotour is a week of fun with like-minded people.
