Bushwalking
On Lord Howe Island
Lord Howe Island is a walker’s paradise, with a network of well-maintained bushwalking tracks allowing you to explore diverse habitats, thronging seabird colonies and the world’s more southerly coral reef. Most tracks are easy to moderate, and Mt Gower is a rewarding challenge to the very fit walkers. When the weather is right, we may venture into some “mystery” tracks that are local secrets.
Both spring and autumn are great bushwalking seasons on the Island, with temperatures ranging from 22C to 16C. In Autumn you can have a close encounter with the very special Providence petrels and in Spring you will see thousands of seabirds courting and breeding. You will be based in an island lodge with a convenient location. Your days can be as energising or as relaxing as you like. Our group activities may include day walks, short walks, reef walk, night walks, lectures and museum tour. Our local expert and naturalist Ian Hutton will share his in-depth knowledge about flora, fauna, history and conservation of this World Heritage Site. You can also explore the island yourself – snorkelling, swimming, cycling, deep sea fishing, yoga, golfing, bowling, or simply doing nothing.
If you want an active holiday, bushwalking on Lord Howe Island may be the perfect choice. Please contact us for detailed itinerary and trip plans.
